Ideal for those who prefer slower-paced, deep-stretch practices and enjoy exploring each posture with mindful attention.
Hatha Yoga refers to a broad category of yoga that emphasizes physical postures (asanas) and is often considered a foundational practice for modern yoga. The word “Ha” means sun and “Tha” means moon, symbolizing a balanced approach between active and passive energies, movement and stillness.
At YUGA Yoga, we define Hatha Yoga classes as slow-paced and static practices in which each posture is practiced methodically—first on the right side, then the left—before moving on to the next. Classes are carefully designed by the teacher according to the intended focus, such as shoulder release or learning a specific posture.
These classes differ from dynamic formats like Sun Salutations or Hatha Flow, focusing instead on deliberate, grounding practice.
Class Levels
(1) Foundation / Level 1
These beginner-friendly classes feature a curated set of fundamental postures designed to help students develop body awareness, build strength, flexibility, and balance evenly. The practice supports better posture and alignment, and helps alleviate or prevent discomfort from poor postural habits—such as lower back pain, shoulder and neck tension, or poor breathing quality.
(2) Intermediate / Level 2
Suitable for students already familiar with the basics or who have completed at least 20 Level 1 classes. These sessions include deeper, more challenging postures that enhance physical strength, flexibility, and mental focus—guiding practitioners to move beyond perceived physical or emotional limits.
(M) Mixed-Level
Open to students of all backgrounds and fitness levels. Beginners with no prior experience are welcome, provided there are no special health concerns. In these classes, instructors demonstrate variations of postures to suit different levels and guide students in the safe use of props. This helps maintain alignment, ensures safety, and deepens the effectiveness of the practice.
